ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The expected licensing of up to three full-service gaming destinations in the New York City area will generate an economic tsunami for the gaming industry along the entire East Coast. The impacts of this dramatic expansion will be examined at the upcoming East Coast Gaming Congress, to be held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino April 15-16.
As New York State moves closer to authorizing up to three Downstate casino licenses in the critical market of New York City and its suburbs, this panel will address key questions including:
- How will the prospect of destination resorts in the New York City market alter the other gaming markets in the eastern United States?
- What can other states and existing operators do in anticipation of that extraordinary challenge?
- How will the process in New York continue to unfold, and how are the potential licensees responding and planning?
The session will be moderated by Patrick Brown, a veteran Albany lobbyist and founding partner of Brown & Weinraub.
Speakers are:
- Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., Chairman of New York State Senate Committee on Racing, Gaming and Wagering
- Dr. Jane Bokunewicz, Faculty Director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming Hospitality and Tourism (LIGHT) and a Professor of Hospitality Tourism and Event Management in the School of Business at Stockton University
- Jeffrey Gural, Chairman of GFP Real Estate and owner of The Meadowlands, Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs
- Adam Rosenberg, Senior Advisor to Blackstone
“The impacts of up to three major casinos in the New York City market will dramatically and permanently affect many businesses and communities up and down the eastern United States, and this panel will play an essential role in projecting and analyzing those effects,” said ECGC co-founder Lloyd D. “For nearly three decades, the East Coast Gaming Congress has focused on the critical topics that all gaming stakeholders need to be aware of, and this panel continues that tradition ,” said ECGC co-founder Michael Pollock, Senior Policy Advisor to Spectrum Gaming Group.
