ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The gaming verticals of lotteries and casinos are evolving at lightning speed. How these two critical pillars will co-exist in the hearts, minds and wallets of consumers will be examined at the upcoming East Coast Gaming Congress, to be held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino April 15-16.
The panel, “Lotteries, Casinos: Frenemies or Friends?” will focus on the continuing expansion of both ilottery and igaming, asking such questions as:
- Does this advancement create opportunities to reach a broader and younger
demographic? - Does it bring these two gaming verticals into each other’s orbit, and if so, is that yet
another challenge? - How can these two industries, whose historic views of each other have ranged from
indifference to suspicion, work together in a digital world?
The session – sponsored by Scientific Games – will be moderated by James Carey, Executive
Director of the New Jersey Lottery. Speakers are:
- Khalid Reede Jones, Executive Director, Virginia Lottery
- Helene Keeley, Executive Director, Delaware Lottery
- May Scheve Reardon, Vice President of Government Relations, Pollard Banknote
- James D. Schultz, Executive Vice President, Global Legal and Public Policy, Scientific
Games - Michael Shillan, Chief Executive Officer, WOW Lottery Ventures LLC
- Frank Suarez, Executive Director, Connecticut Lottery
“Lotteries are arguably the older sibling of casinos, and this panel will examine whether their joint future will be one of cooperation or sibling rivalry,” said ECGC co-founder Lloyd D. Levenson, CEO at Cooper Levenson.
“The East Coast Gaming Congress takes pride in providing an unblinking focus on the issues that are central to the future of gaming, and this panel is emblematic of that commitment,” said ECGC co-founder Michael Pollock, Senior Policy Advisor to Spectrum Gaming Group.
The 28th Annual East Coast Gaming Congress, the longest-running gaming conference in the United States, will include keynote addresses from major industry CEOs. Other speakers include a wide range of leading regulators, suppliers, investors and other experts who will address a broad array of topics central to the future of gaming.
The conference will also present a Lifetime Achievement Award to Jim Allen, Chief Executive Officer of Seminole Gaming and Chairman of Hard Rock International.
